Perhaps the most inconsistent artist that ever lived, Don McLean's albums are very frustrating. There's always a gem or two among the idiosyncratic tracks which almost always end up being a blur. The fact that very few of these tracks end up on compilations makes it all the more frustrating for fans. Believers is a perfect example of this. It's a good listen, and it contains a couple of gems in the remake of "Castles .

McLean's vocal style adds new life to the rock standards "Love Hurts", "Love Letters", and "Sea Cruise". The CD version of this album, released in , contains a bonus track, a re-make of the Bobby Darin hit "Dream Lover". I bought this album on vinyl in and have listened to it hundreds of times since. I was ecstatic when it was released /5(7).
